Salt Laden Winds
25x30cm, Oil, pastel, sand, oil stick, gold leaf and wax on deep edge canvas
Salt Laden Winds is part of my recent work which is about the push and pull of the inside and outside. The part of me that is okay with being inside these four walls during lockdown as it means I get to not leave the studio, and the part of me that desires to be outside and amongst others. The other day my sister and I wondered (via FaceTime) when we would see family again (not via FaceTime). This conversation has really stayed me this week, something that cannot be remedied with art or yoga. So the painting and title is of a memory, of the salt laden winds of family get togethers in Norfolk, Cornwall, Brighton and Cyprus.
